Cards Covering Childish Bambino’s Journey
Is it really the offseason without a splash from the Yankees? Just like in any other year, 2023 is no different. On Dec. 7, the Bronx Bombers opened up their wallet again, acquiring a superstar to help resurrect the team from the pits of the AL East and return to its championship standard in Juan Soto, a talent who knows a thing or two about procuring jewelry. So, to celebrate the move and Soto’s relocation to the Big Apple, let’s check out Childish Bambino’s MLB journey through cards.
2019 MLB TOPPS NOW® #1068B Juan Soto Auto Relic
Soto’s 21st birthday coincided with the Nationals’ 2019 World Series showdown against the Astros, which became an unforgettable celebration. He checked in and secured a VIP section in baseball history by becoming the youngest player to hit three home runs in a single World Series. The culmination of his efforts led Washington to clinch their first championship title. In recognition of Soto’s extraordinary accomplishments, Topps commemorated the moment with a special TOPPS NOW® card featuring a game-used base and autograph attached.
2019 MLB TOPPS NOW® #OS-3 Juan Soto
There’s nothing cooler than bringing an organization its first championship. Soto can say he did that and lived to celebrate with his pals and the beloved city that cheered him on while capturing the crown. The DMV still loves Childish Bambino and always will.
2022 MLB TOPPS NOW® #636 Juan Soto
The Padres swung for the fences right before the 2022 Trade Deadline, acquiring Soto from the Nationals in a 9-player deal. It was such a massive deal because of Soto that Topps took the moment and made it into a highly sought-after card.
2022 MLB TOPPS NOW® #650 Juan Soto
On Aug. 3, 2022, Soto debuted with the Padres in front of the home crowd at Petco Park. In a 9-1 victory over the Rockies, the sensational slugger tallied his first hit and run scored with this new squad.
2023 MLB TOPPS NOW® #OS-2 Juan Soto
After 214 games, 41 homers, and an All-Star appearance with the Padres, Soto moved to New York in a 2023 offseason trade. And just like before, Topps turned the blockbuster deal into a card that sold out faster than the local fish fry. Soto might be the juice the Bronx Bombers needed to return to prominence.
