The 2023 campaign was a dream with no nightmares (shoutout to Meek Mill) for Carter, the Rangers’ second-round pick in 2020, and his Texas squad. Not only did the Rangers lift their first World Series trophy in organization history, but Carter, the 21-year-old who only played in 23 regular-season games, came through in the clutch, carving out an unexpectedly massive role in the postseason and signing his name next to a host of greats in the process despite spending the majority of his year in the Minors. As his career trends upward, so do his trading cards. So what did we do? We made a list of his top trading cards tracing Carter’s “first” campaign.

2020 Bowman Draft Chrome® #126 Evan Carter

We can’t confirm whether this is Carter’s inaugural trading card, but we can verify that it is his first Bowman, which boosts the card to the top tier. The fact that this dropped in 2020, the year the Rangers’ postseason behemoth was drafted, gives it even more validation, creating more mystique for a card readily available on the market. I know it’s all fresh, but we might be looking at the 2024 AL Rookie of the Year.

2021 Topps Heritage Minor League #176 Evan Carter

The 2021 Topps Heritage Minor League #176 Evan Carter is another of the 21-year-old’s earliest cards on the market. Here, he takes a swing for the AZL Rangers, Texas’ Arizona League squad. The second-round pick’s battle through the rigors of the minors took just two years and some change, which is exceptionally fast given that many never make it to the Bigs. Oh! And this is a Heritage product, making it a must-cop for anyone starting an Evan Carter collection.

2022 Topps Heritage #71 Evan Carter

Carter’s second appearance in a Heritage product came in 2022, when he spent most of the season in North Carolina, playing high-A ball for the Hickory Crawdads. In 100 appearances with the sea roaches, the outfielder totaled 11 homers and 66 RBIs while batting a healthy .287. His success resulted in him being named the Texas Rangers 2022 Tom Grieve Player of the Year Award and an eventual promotion to AA.

2023 Pro Debut Base Gold #PD-79 Evan Carter /50

Carter commenced 2022 with AA Frisco, where he starred for the Roughriders — no relation to DMX’s famed Ruff Ryder’s, RIP DMX. Over 97 games, he “Partied It Up” in Frisco, batting a scorching .284 with 12 homers and 62 RBIs, which earned him a call-up to AAA Round Rock.

PS: The Base Gold is one of 50, making it the rarest card on this list. It will cost a steep price, but look at this baby; it’s a showstopper.

2023 MLB TOPPS NOW® Card #893 Evan Carter RC

Against Oakland on Sept. 8, 2023, a 21-year-old Carter arrived in the Bigs, making his debut. The Rangers’ top prospect impressed, tallying a single – his first career hit – stealing a base, and collecting a walk. Topps commemorated his performance with this beauty above, acknowledging the call-up of a Tennessee kid who proved to be a key figure in the Rangers’ first taste of championship glory.
