Six quarterbacks being selected in the first 12 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft just showed the importance a dependable signal-caller plays in the pro game. USC’s Caleb Williams, LSU’s Jayden Daniels, and UNC’s Drake Maye stole the show last year by being the first three picks. This year, a couple players — namely Georgia’s Carson Beck and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders — could be vying for the No. 1 pick come next April’s draft.

Here’s a look at the top five quarterbacks this season.

Carson Beck, Georgia

Following a long line of durable guys behind center for the Bulldogs, Beck was solid in his first year starting. He ranked third nationally, throwing for 3,941 yards, 24 touchdowns, and just six interceptions. Georgia finished 13-1 but missed out on the College Football Playoff after winning back-to-back national titles.

Dillon Gabriel, Oregon

The Ducks got a good one through the transfer portal. A senior now after playing at Oklahoma and Central Florida, Gabriel threw for 3,660 yards, 30 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He already ranks in the top 10 in FBS history for career passing yards and TDs.

Quinn Ewers, Texas

Ewers has started 22 collegiate games and put up some impressive numbers. Last season, he threw for 3,479 yards — fifth most in program history — to go with 22 touchdowns, while being picked off six times. With Arch Manning breathing down his neck for playing time, Ewers has to be his best.

Shedeur Sanders, Colorado

Sanders heads into the season as a candidate to be the top quarterback and possibly the No. 1 overall pick in next year’s NFL Draft. Prime Time’s son was electric last season as a junior with a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 27-to-3.

Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss

Dart helped orchestrate the best season in Ole Miss history with 11 wins. His 3,364 yards and 23 touchdowns to go with eight rushing scores gave the offense a big boost.
