Elimination Chamber: Toronto ended with an insane twist that saw a side of the No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship, John Cena, that no one has seen before. Fresh off winning his fourth Elimination Chamber match, tying the record for the most in company history, John Cena was met in the ring by WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.

“The American Nightmare” congratulated the 16-time champ for his victory. However, the moment was short-lived as The Rock’s music hit, with an infusion of Travis Scott’s “F!EN” track in there, brought Rogers Centre to its feet. Rock and Travis were there to see if Rhodes was set on allying ahead of WrestleMania 41.
To no one’s surprise, Cody had colorful words and proudly rejected the idea of “selling his soul” to “The Final Boss.” Cena congratulated his WrestleMania 41 opponent for standing up to The Rock and went in for a hug. Then, The Rock signaled Cena to turn his back on Rhodes, taking a cheap shot and beating him up mercilessly. The Rock and Travis Scott joined in on the beating, leaving the WWE Champion completely defenseless and battered.
The turn of events is something fans did not see coming and much less thought would ever happen from Cena. The once poster child for the company’s face sold out and joined forces with arguably the strongest force WWE has in The Rock. Time will tell if such a move will play out to Cena’s advantage, but there’s no denying that his actions sent shockwaves that will be discussed for years.
