1952 Mother’s Cookies #4 Chuck Connors

Something about the smell of freshly baked cookies brings back memories of our childhood and reminds us of mom’s love. In 1952, Mother’s Cookies tapped into that nostalgia and began producing baseball cards as a promotional giveaway. Their first set of 64 cards featured players from the Pacific Coast League, including a young Chuck Connors, who earned the fourth card in the set. Connors was a true Renaissance man as one of 13 athletes to play in both the MLB and NBA. He also boasts a career that spans the MLB and NBA. Now that’s a resume any mother would love to brag about.

2017 Topps Salute Mother’s Day #S-24 Joey Votto

In 2017, Topps launched their first-ever Mother’s Day set, a tribute to all the incredible moms out there. Among the cards in the set was a special tribute to Joey Votto’s mother, Wendy. The card features the Breast Cancer Awareness Logo and recounts Votto’s incredible performance on Mother’s Day in 2012. On that day, he hit three home runs, including a walk-off grand slam to defeat the Nationals. After the game, his mom called him and thanked the slugger for his amazing performance.

1983 Mother’s Cookies San Francisco Giants Stadium Giveaway Bob Brenly #6

After a 30-year hiatus from producing baseball cards, Mother’s Cookies returned to the game on August 7, 1983, when the Bay Area-based brand distributed free cards to the first 20,000 fans who attended San Francisco’s Candlestick Park for the Giants’ meeting with Nolan Ryan and the Astros. Two things moms can appreciate with this Bob Brenly collectible. A good comeback story. And a great action shot.
