Vote for the WWE Topps NOW Performer of the Week
The excitement was palpable on Monday Night RAW when WWE aired the debut episode of 2026 from Brooklyn. With three championship matches and other marquee matchups on the card, the Superstars were ready to turn the WWE Universe upside down.
Let’s look at the biggest results from night that kicked off 2026 with a bang.
Monday Night RAW kicked off 2026 with major title changes, standout women’s division performances, and CM Punk retaining the World Heavyweight Championship against Bron Breakker. Becky Lynch reclaimed the Women’s Intercontinental Title, Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky captured tag gold, and fans can now vote for the WWE Topps NOW® Performer of the Week.
WWE Crowns a New Women’s Tag Team Champion Duo
WWE started off 2026 in style with a massive matchup between four female powerhouses. After arguably stealing the show at Night 2 of WrestleMania 41 with Bianca Belair, Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley found common ground and a budding friendship that put them on a collision course with Iyo’s former stablemates and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Asuka and Kairi Sane, the Kabuki Warriors.
An intense back-and-forth match started in favor of the challengers, but the champs quickly recovered and took control by smartly double-teaming the powerful Ripley, slowing things down in their favor. However, things picked back up in the action-packed match that included Rhea’s homage to her former Judgement Day stablemate when she delivered a Razor’s Edge to Sane and nearly picked up the win.
After a few momentum swings, an In-Sane Elbow, and a few near-falls, Ripley hit Asuka with a Riptide followed by an Over the Moonsault from Sky, which was good enough for the 1-2-3. Now, “Rhiyo” are your new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions!
Becky Lynch Takes Back Her Crown at RAW
Action continued halfway through RAW with the second of three title defenses in a night where women dominated the card. This time it was “The Man” Becky Lynch vying to win back “her” Women’s Intercontinental Title from Maxxine Dupri. Dupri has demonstrated not only a surge of confidence lately, but massive improvement in the ring as well, showing exactly why she was IC champ.
Dupri handled her business for most of the match as she was able to prevent Becky from gaining any kind of meaningful momentum. Both women finally went from exchanging blows to submission holds. Lynch countered the ankle lock, and Dupri slipped our of the Disarm-Her. But after Dupri applied the ankle lock once more, Lynch did what she often does and chose an…unconventional counter by holding the bottom rope to apply a pin and steal the win.
Some may have thoughts about how the newly crowned 2-time IC Champ reclaimed the title. But that kind of creative thinking is what makes Becky Lynch the GOAT.
Liv Morgan’s Big Night Back in the Ring
Women continued to highlight why they were the strongest part of WWE in 2025 with a third match between Lyra Valkyria and the fresh-off-the-injured-list Liv Morgan. Both women were accompanied by allies, with Roxanne Perez backing up her Judgement Day mate Liv and Bayley in Lyra’s corner.
Liv controlled the fight early, until Lyra began to turn things around. Unfortunately for her, Liv was one step ahead with a filthy Codebreaker countered out of Lyra’s finisher. The action continued with neither woman able to gain a clear advantage on the other, until shenanigans outside the ring from Perez and Bayley gave Liv enough of a distraction to roll up Valkyria and steal the win.
CM Punk Defends His Title Against Bron Breakker
Then, it finally came time for the main event the WWE Universe had been hyped for weeks: Champion CM Punk vs. Bron Breakker for the WWE Heavyweight Championship. These two have been chomping at the bit to get their hands on each other ever since WarGames in November. And when the bell rang, boy did they deliver.
This was an absolute war. Punk controlled the match early with his technical skill and experience, but the youth, raw power, and speed of Breakker could only be held back so long. These two emptied out their bag of tricks, which for Bron included interference from his pals in The Vision, Bronson Reed, Austin Theory, and Logan Paul. Lucky for Punk, Rey Mysterio, Penta, and Dragon Lee made the save for him.
The match only got crazier from there with Punk diving through the ropes and getting clocked by Breakker, who then climbed on top of the turnbuckle and onto Punk through the announce table. But when Breakker tried to polish off Punk with a Spear, the wily champ countered with a knee to the face and then one more for good measure in the form of his GTS finisher, which sealed him retaining his title.
It was a big way for WWE to start off the year, with big title changes and new feuds brewing. Will this early trend of unpredictability continue through to Royal Rumble on January 31st? Fans will have to keep their eyes peeled, but WWE can always promise a good finish.
