Topps teams with How2Work and Pop Mart to bring Kasing Lung\u2019s Labubu to 2025 Topps Chrome<\/strong>. The set preserves Lung\u2019s playful style while using Chrome\u2019s reflective tech for depth and texture. A First-of-Its-Kind Collaboration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis was a very exciting opportunity for Topps to partner with How2Work and Pop Mart for the first time,\u201d Akerley says. \u201cOur collective vision for the cards, packaging, and even the key ring came together easily due to the strong creative style of Kasing Lung\u2019s artwork. We were able to build everything using the original artwork as core inspiration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The partnership brought together three creative forces with a shared respect for art and collectibility. Lung\u2019s distinctive style\u2014colorful, emotional, and a little mischievous\u2014provided a strong foundation for the collaboration, allowing Topps to build around his existing universe rather than reimagine it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Akerley first learned that Topps would be adapting Labubu\u2019s world into Chrome, her reaction was pure excitement. \u201cWe were ecstatic with the opportunity to see how Labubu could work on Chrome cards,\u201d she recalls. \u201cIt\u2019s no secret that Labubu has had a significant impact in the collectibles space, so it was exciting to see how the characters could translate onto another collectible platform, and how that would be received by fans.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kasing Lung\u2019s imaginative world has always existed in a vibrant, storybook-like visual language. Translating that into Chrome\u2014a medium celebrated for its reflective finish and premium feel\u2014was an opportunity to merge two distinct creative identities. \u201cKasing Lung\u2019s Labubu artwork is so lively and detailed,\u201d Akerley explains. \u201cOur goal was to maintain all the fantastic elements of the original artwork while adding in all the classic components of a Chrome card set.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bringing the Art to Life<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Because much of Lung\u2019s work already existed in two dimensions, the adaptation process was more about enhancement than reinvention. \u201cIt was easy because the artwork featured on the cards was already two-dimensional from the Monsters books by Kasing Lung,\u201d Akerley says. This allowed the Topps team to focus on creating illustrations that shimmer with depth and texture using Chrome technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Balancing Labubu\u2019s playful, mischievous energy with the refined tone of Chrome became a key creative focus. \u201cIn my opinion, the patterns and colors used in the Labubu artwork really pop on the Chrome tech,\u201d Akerley notes. \u201cIt adds a liveliness to the already vibrant work. I think these are going to be fun cards to admire in hand.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Decade of Mischief<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To commemorate Labubu\u2019s 10-year milestone, the team introduced a special design element that visually celebrates the anniversary. \u201cWe wanted to pay homage to the 10th Anniversary of Labubu with a special parallel,\u201d Akerley explains. \u201cSo we came up with the 10th Anniversary Logo Border, which calls out the impressive milestone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the set\u2019s variations, Akerley has a clear favorite. \u201cDefinitely the SuperFractor cards,\u201d she says. \u201cSeeing how the artwork and that distinct card tech merge to create something unique is cool to see.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
