Disney and trading cards have been linked since the very early days of The Hobby. In the 1930s, Gum Inc. produced some of the earliest Disney trading cards, most famously the 1935 Gum Inc. Mickey Mouse set. That series consisted of more than 90 cards, featuring colorful art on the front and riddles or trivia on the back. It marked one of the first times Mickey Mouse and his friends were widely distributed on collectible cardboard, helping to cement Disney\u2019s place in the non-sports card market. Topps\u2019 greater entertainment breakthrough came in 1977 with Star Wars, a Lucasfilm property later acquired by Disney, which established a relationship that would prove crucial decades later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Disney\u2013Topps connection has become more formalized in recent years. In 2023, Topps launched Topps Chrome Disney 100 Years of Wonder, the first major premium release dedicated to celebrating Disney\u2019s centennial. This set brought together characters spanning Disney\u2019s history, from Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse to Pixar icons, Marvel heroes, and Star Wars legends. Its Refractors<\/a>, inserts<\/a>, and parallels<\/a> gave Disney the same high-end Hobby treatment Topps had long reserved for baseball, basketball, and other sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2025, Topps is once again shining a spotlight on Disney with 2025 Topps Chrome Disney, a product that celebrates timeless characters and anniversaries with dazzling Chrome technology. Nearly a century after Gum Inc.\u2019s first Disney cards, the relationship between Disney and Topps remains strong, bridging vintage history with modern collecting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
