
With the return of Premier League Topps Now, we’re taking a nostalgic look back at some of the most iconic moments captured on the original cards from 2016 to 2019.
The Premier League was the very first football competition to receive the Topps Now treatment, at a time when the modern collecting hobby was only just beginning to take shape.
Back then, production numbers were low, which means many of these cards featuring unforgettable Premier League highlights have become highly sought-after treasures for collectors today.

Let’s look at some of the highlights from the previous Topps Now run…
TOPPS NOW PREMIER LEAGUE 2016/17
Harry Kane, Spurs – Golden Boot (May 21) – Print run: 81
Few goal-scorers were as productive as Spurs’ Harry Kane. This card celebrated his second successive golden boot after a 7-1 victory over Hull City only sold 81 cards.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Manchester United – Ibra Scores Premier League’s 25,000th Goal (November 6) – Print run: 225
This is one of the best-selling Topps Now cards from the original run. Featuring the Swedish superstar scoring the landmark 25,000th Premier League goal, you won’t find too many Zlatan cards with a print run as low as this.

Wayne Rooney, Manchester United – Record-Breaking Rooney (January 21) – Print run: 332
Wayne Rooney has always been a popular choice amongst collectors and here you have a card commemorating him as Manchester United’s all-time top goal-scorer.

Peter Crouch, Stoke City – Crouch Joins the 100 Club (February 1) – Print run 80
Crouch celebrates his 100th Premier League goal in iconic fashion, busting out the robot for one of the most memorable celebrations of all-time.

TOPPS NOW PREMIER LEAGUE 2017/18
Mohamed Salah, Liverpool – Golden Boot Record-Breaker! (May 13) – Print run: 225
Salah was the top scorer in the Premier League in 2017/18, scoring 32 goals – the most of anyone in a 38-game season at the time. To commemorate this amazing record, Topps produced and a great card for any collector of the ‘Egyptian king’.

Gareth Barry, West Bromwich Albion – Equals All-Time PL App Record (September 16) – Print Run: 31
A ‘proper’ Premier League player, Barry was a stalwart in English football, playing for 4 clubs and registering 22 years in the top-flight. Renowned for his durability and longevity, he finally equalled the all-time appearance record in 2017.

Wayne Rooney, Everton – Scores from His Own Half! (November 29) – Print Run: 46
After a much-hyped return to Everton, Rooney duly delivered for the home fans, smashing in an iconic goal instinctively from distance. With an incredible highlight reel of PL goals, this one is up there as in the debate for his greatest ever.

TOPPS NOW Premier League 2018/19 – Autographs introduced!

Declan Rice – “First Hammers Goal”, West Ham (12 January) – Print run: 79
One of the Premier League’s strongest players in recent years, Declan Rice burst onto the scene in 2018/19 and grabbed his first senior goal for the Hammers against, you guessed it, his future club Arsenal FC.

Phil Foden – “First Premier League Goal”, Manchester City (20 April) – Print run: 61
Another first goal for an elite player. This card commemorates Phil Foden’s first strike for the Cityzens. Who knew he would go on to be the player he is? With a print run of only 61, this is a card to look out for.

Son Heung-Min – ‘First Goal at the New Stadium’ (3rd April) – Print run: 149
A huge moment for Spurs as fan-favourite, Son scores the first goal at the new Tottenham stadium.

Shane Long ‘Fastest Premier League goal ever’ (23rd April) – Print run: 78
A record which still stands to this day, Shane Long’s iconic strike after just 7.69 seconds against Watford in 2019 has become a part of PL history, will it ever be broken?
