After a long summer of fun in the sun, students are heading back to school. While shopping for new kicks, backpacks, lunch boxes, T-shirts, markers, and pens, trading cards need to be added to the “must-have” list.

Topps has many options for kids who love football and basketball cards this year.

At RIPPED, we celebrate this time of year with three products that will make any collector thankful for the changing of the seasons.

2023 Topps Composite Football

It’s cool to see Topps rookie cards of young NFL studs CJ Stroud and Anthony Richardson.

These two star quarterbacks will be part of the new 2023 Topps Composite Football product, which will be released on August 30.

The set is a mix of Topps brands, including Topps Chrome, Chrome Black, Resurgence, Finest, Cosmic Chrome, Midnight, Allen & Ginter, Archives, Heritage, and more. Retired stars and legends make up most of the product, along with the top four rookie quarterbacks: Stroud, Richardson, Bryce Young, and Will Levis.

It’s Topps and football. It’s iconic in every sense of the word. All the kids will want to trade for their favorite football players from this product.

The autograph lineup is crazy deep: Barry Sanders, Jerry Rice, Dan Marino, John Elway, Randy Moss, and JJ Watt are just some of the big names represented with ink.

The base set consists of 450 cards with an exciting range of inserts. One of the coolest insert sets is the 25-card 1973 Topps Football Chrome, with players on cards featuring the 1973 Topps Football design.

2023/24 Topps Chrome Basketball

San Antonio Spurs phenom Victor Wembanyama drives every new basketball product in the market — 2023/24 Topps Chrome Basketball is no different.

Wembanyama, the NBA Rookie of the Year this past season, shows up in a big way in this set with Fanatics-exclusive autograph cards.

All the cool kids in school will be collecting this latest Wemby gem.

The 2023/24 Topps Chrome Basketball product, which is set to be released on August 28, is a nice mix of rookies with Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren, veterans with LeBron James and Russell Westbrook, and retired stars such as Larry Bird and Bill Walton.

The 190-card base set also features 17 insert sets. James has his first single-signed cards since inking an exclusive autograph contract with Fanatics earlier this year. Special insert cards are James’ 2003-04 Time Machine Autographs Red Refractors and James’ Base Autograph Gold Refractors.

Topps — putting out its first Chrome Basketball set in 15 years — is in high demand from collectors.

2024 Topps Chrome Baseball

With the dazzling Elly De La Cruz as the cover athlete, 2024 Topps Chrome Baseball embodies the flash of the young talent at the MLB talent.

Topps Chrome, which came out in mid-July, is a fun product for collectors of all ages. The 300-card base set features young, up-and-coming players such as the Jackson 3: Jackson Holliday, Jackson Chourio, and Jackson Merrill.

Over 150 players have autos in 2024 Topps Chrome Baseball, including big-name retired players such as Ken Griffey Jr., Albert Pujols, and Derek Jeter.

Topps Chrome Authentics highlights some of the game’s best players with game-used memorabilia in the card.

Fanatical is a new insert set, joining Radiating Rookies, Let’s Go, Exposé, Future Stars, Youthquake, and Ultraviolet All-Stars. The 2024 Topps Chrome Baseball release has so many more features that each collector needs to check it out themselves.

Remember when you’re making that back-to-school run for supplies to add these trading card products to the list. You won’t regret it.
