The 2024 Topps Series 2 Baseball is out. I know, it was a long four-month wait between Series 1 and Series 2 hitting the market. But then again, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

The second series has a storied history, dating back to its first release in 1993. That year, 396 cards were included in Series 1 with 429 cards coming out in Series 2. At the time, this made up the largest set in Topps Baseball history. In keeping with tradition, 2024’s Series 2 contains the second half of the year’s Flagship set, both filling out the collection and expanding on Series 1. It also includes rookie cards from some up-and-coming players, such as 25-year-old star Yoshinobu Yamamoto of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who has adjusted spectacularly to life at the major league level.

The product also includes a number of new inserts, including the 1989 Topps Baseball All-Star set, building off the throwback 1989 Topps Baseball set from Series 1. Heavy Lumber–a unique style of insert in which cards were built from wood material and limited to 500 copies have also been placed in Series 2. A Ronald Acuña Jr. commemorative 40/70 insert also makes an appearance, exclusively found in hobby packs. Stars of MLB and Stars of MLB Chrome also feature as inserts in Series 2, with those cards available exclusively at the retail level. Series 2 also features multi-player sets this year, including Signature Tune Dual Autographs numbered to 25, and Dynamic Dual Autographs numbered to 10. All in all, Topps Series 2 Baseball features over dozen varieties of inserts, autographs, and relics.
