Holliday, Caminero Rank Nos. 1, 2
MLB Pipeline has released its first Top 100 Prospects List since prior to the season.
It’s a great mix of familiar names and up-and-coming new faces. Let’s dive into the prospects.
Baltimore Orioles second baseman/shortstop Jackson Holliday remains No. 1 for the third straight list. Holliday was recently recalled from the minors and has been hitting well at the big-league level.
Coming in at No. 2 — moving up two spots — is Tampa Bay Rays third baseman/second baseman Junior Caminero. He was just called up by the Rays yesterday, his first MLB stint this season.
Dylan Crews moves up to No. 3 on the list. The Washington Nationals outfielder is currently playing in Triple-A. At No. 4 is Minnesota Twins phenom Walker Jenkins. The 19-year-old outfielder has reached High-A this season and is considered two years away from making his MLB debut. Boston Red Sox shortstop Marcelo Mayer jumped 10 spots to No. 5. He is playing in Triple-A and should be a September callup to the big club.
The Rays and Detroit Tigers both have two prospects ranked in the top 10. Along with Caminero, shortstop Carson Williams is at No. 6 for the Rays. The Tigers hold the next two spots with outfielder Max Clark and pitcher Jackson Jobe.
In all, 43 of the top 100 players are new to the list. Of those, 12 were selected the first round of the MLB Draft last month. No. 3 overall pick Charlie Condon of the Colorado Rockies is ranked No. 12. Top selection Travis Bazzana of the Cleveland Guardians is at No. 13. The remaining prospects 31 weren’t on the preseason top 100 but have warranted the jump with solid minor-league seasons thus far.
