Orioles Rookie has Gone Deep in 3 Straight Games
Jackson Holliday’s MLB career didn’t quite start out the way he had hoped.
A rough time at the plate required him to be sent back down to the minors to work on his game. Since being recalled by the Baltimore Orioles on July 31, the phenom has been absolutely on fire.
Holliday, the top-ranked prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline, went an abysmal 2-for-34 (.059 average) with 18 strikeouts and one RBI in 10 games in his first MLB stint earlier this season. After the call-up, Holliday has gone 9-for-24 (.375) with four home runs and 10 RBIs.
In the seven games since being back at the big-league level, Holliday has at least one RBI in six contests. After blasting a home run last night in the Orioles’ 7-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays, Holliday became the youngest player in American League history to homer in three straight games.
Holliday — who is now hitting .190 in his career — set the home run record at just 20 years, 247 days. Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuna Jr., holds the record for youngest player in the majors to home runs in three consecutive contests. He actually went deep in five straight games in 2018.
Holliday is just the 16th player in league history to homer in three straight games before the age of 21.
