Just 12th Active Player to Reach Milestone
With every passing season, Bryce Harper just keeps padding his career stats.
Harper hit a milestone on Sunday when he collected three hits, including a home run, in the Philadelphia Phillies’ 6-0 victory over the Seattle Mariners.
Harper eclipsed 3,000 total bases during his illustrious 13-year career. He is just the 12th active player to reach that round number.
Los Angeles Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman is the active leader with 3,795 total bases. Joey Votto, who is currently with the Toronto Blue Jays’ Triple-A affiliate, is currently in second place with 3,706 total bases. Pittsburgh Pirates’ Andrew McCutchen sits in third place at 3,590.
New York Yankees’ Anthony Rizzo (2,912) and Colorado Rockies’ Charlie Blackmon (2,895) are on pace to become the next players to reach the 3,000-base plateau.
There are just four players to ever amass 6,000 career bases. Hank Aaron (6,856), is tops, followed by Albert Pujols (6,211), Stan Musial (6,134), and Willie Mays (6,080).
Since being the No. 1 pick in the 2010 MLB Draft, Harper has lived up to the extremely high expectations as the next big thing in the sport. The two-time National League MVP is on pace to tally over 250 total bases this season for the seventh time in his career. Harper has 199 total bases with 25 home runs, 23 doubles and 53 singles.
This marks the 10th time that Harper has hit 20 or more home runs in a season. Harper is seventh on the active home run list with 331.
