Just games into his NBA career, Dylan Harper has already impressed the basketball world with his breathtaking combination of speed, skill, and poise. The newest running mate of NBA and Hobby superstar Victor Wembanyama, Harper has found himself on a team that’s quick becoming one of the leading stories of the season.

Though time missed from a recent calf strain has somewhat dampened his Rookie of the Year prospects, Harper remains one of the biggest rookies to chase across the Topps Basketball landscape this season. And with the release of 2025-26 Topps Basketball, the hunt for Harper is already well underway.

Let’s look at Harper’s rise, some Hobby highlights, and his unquestionably bright future in San Antonio.

The Prodigal Son

Dylan Harper is the son of five-time NBA champion Ron Harper. A prodigy and phenom in his own right, the younger Harper was a five-star recruit out of Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey. In 2024, he was named co-MVP of the McDonald’s All-American game alongside fellow 2025 NBA lottery pick Derik Queen.

Harper’s 2024 Topps Chrome® McDonald’s All-American cards were among the most coveted in the set, released in February 2025.

A fantastic patch auto card of Harper’s, featuring the Adidas logo, sold for $3,650 in June 2025. This Dylan Harper Red Refractor Auto card numbered to five sold through Fanatics Collect for $630 in September 2025.

Harper became the highest-rated recruit to attend Rutgers University, teaming up with 2025 fifth overall NBA Draft pick Ace Bailey at the New Jersey school.

Dylan Harper: Bowman Baller

While Rutgers’ high expectations were not quite met in Harper’s only season at the college level, his highlight reel was a thing of beauty, showing off an array of skills that made him the consensus second overall pick behind 2025-26 Topps Basketball cover athlete Cooper Flagg. Harper was named to the All-Freshman and Third Team All-Big Ten teams for his performance.

As with the Chrome McDonald’s All-American set, Harper was also a center piece of 2024-25 Bowman University Basketball releases. This Bowman University Best triple auto card featuring Harper alongside teammate Ace Bailey and National Player of the Year Cooper Flagg was limited to only 25 copies.

On October 10, 2025, this version of the card sold for $3,720. At writing, per Card Ladder, the top-selling Harper card of all-time is the SuperFractor 1-of-1 of this card, which sold for $36,600.

Harper’s cards from his time at Rutgers can also be found in 2024-25 Bowman Chrome University Basketball. One of the centerpiece chase players in the set, Harper’s auto cards from the checklist have been particularly popular.

One of Harper’s special moments with Rutgers came on December 30, 2024. Showing off his high ceiling and well-rounded game, the guard put up 16 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds in a win over Columbia to record the first triple-double for Rutger since 1983. Bowman U NOW® celebrated the performance with this card.

Dylan Harper Gets his Spurs

While Cooper Flagg was the consensus top overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, there was no surprise to see the talented Harper scooped up by San Antonio with the second selection. Despite multiple quality guards running the point for the Spurs, his potential was simply too good to turn down.

Topps NOW® commemorated the moment, in which Harper became the highest draft pick in the history of Rutgers basketball. Redemptions of the auto version of the card have sold for as much as $1,000.

Harper Arrives with Topps Basketball

This year’s rookie class is absolutely loaded, and Dylan Harper is right in the thick of it when it comes to this year’s chase throughout Topps releases. To get things started, Harper is one of the most highly featured rookies in 2025-26 Topps Basketball, with base cards, parallels, variations, inserts, autos, and a fantastic Rise to the Occasion relic card there for the chasing.

Alrleady, we’ve seen some massive pulls of Harper chase cards in the days since the release of the set, including this 1-of-1 SuperFractor auto card, found in China.

Among the insert cards sure to be popular with collectors of Harper and the Spurs is a fantastic Home Court SSP, marking the young star’s arrival in San Antonio.

The incredible and deserved hype surrounding Harper and his ascension to the NBA only continues to build as he helps San Antonio emerge as a force in the Western Conference. In just his third game with the Spurs, Harper was brilliant, putting up 20 points, eight assists, and six rebounds, becoming the youngest player in league history to get those numbers without a turnover.

With an insanely high ceiling, and the veteran poise of the son of an NBA champion, those in The Hobby will be keen to follow the progress of the tantalizing prospect that is Dylan Harper.
