Card Designer and Local Brewer Combine For Unique Hobby Shop
“We’re really good friends, we both collect cards, and we thought it would be a cool concept: a card shop and a brewery tasting room.”
Keith Shore opened a unique LCS in New Hope, Pennsylvania last July. A noted artist and baseball card designer, Shore got to work with his friend and co-owner Jake Atkinson, who is also co-founder of popular PA brewery Human Robot.
“It’s simple,” Shore explained. “We liked ripping cards and having beers together. So, we thought it’d be a fun thing to do and see if we could pull it off.”

The result is Doubles, an inviting local watering hole and card shop — a place to grab some product, rip some packs, and talk The Hobby — all over a brew.
We recently had the chance to sit down with Shore to talk about the exciting new venture, and creating spaces and communities for The Hobby to thrive.
Doubles is a one-of-a-kind Hobby hangout in New Hope, Pennsylvania that blends a local card shop with a brewery tasting room. Co-owned by artist and card designer Keith Shore and brewer Jake Atkinson (Human Robot), it’s built around ripping packs, sharing pours, and building community. Events like their ticketed “Bingo Break” for 2026 Topps Series 1 Baseball turn live breaks into an in-person, social experience.
A Hobby Shop Like No Other
In keeping with the spirit of community and Hobby events that have been such a part of its first year in business, Doubles is hosting a Bingo Break in concert with the upcoming release of 2026 Topps Series 1 Baseball.
Shore described the event: “February 13. We’ll be doing an in-person break at the bar. These are super fun and very different than most live breaks. It’s ticketed and includes a free beer. You get a spin of our bingo cage and each ball has a team name on it. We pass around packs for everyone to open, beers are flowing, we yell out all the hits, people are trading and making friends. You leave with all the cards we pulled from your bingo team. It’s a great time.”

While a new frontier for Shore, Doubles is hardly his first rodeo in The Hobby. “I was the Art Director at the Danish brewery Mikkeller for 15 years,” he explained. “We had a brewery at Citi Field and the Topps team was introduced to my work at that location. I was asked to participate in Project 70.”

“I also produced my own artist card set for Bowman and made the first-ever MLB licensed set for Garbage Pail Kids too.”
Shore’s brilliant Ken Griffey Jr. Project 2020 card was hugely popular, generating a print run of almost 100,000.

Building Hobby Community
Doubles is a bright space that features both a card case and bar. As Shore explained, “I think the coolest thing that we found about the space is that it really functions as a proper bar. A lot of the people that come to the bar are in for a drink. But we see people that haven’t opened up cards or thought about cards getting into it while hanging out. People pop in for a couple pints and then find themselves ripping packs for the first time since they were kids.”
“We have two seats right next to the card shop area, which we call the card seats. 10 bar stools are on the other side, and a TV, showing Philly sports. The card shop is truly part of the bar. We have floating shelves that are in the middle of the bar area, with our back stock, boxes.” As to the cards themselves, Shore explained, “We have a nice stock of modern packs and a fun assortment of vintage wax from the late ’80s to early ’90s.”

As Doubles prepared to open, co-owner Jake Atkinson took to Reddit to explain the idea. The reaction was phenomenal.
“Jake was sending me stuff everyday,” Shore said. “It was going crazy. For a lot of people who are into cards, it’s heaven. When we get people in, they love it.”
The vibe is communal, with the cards themselves often serving as fuel for strangers to strike up a conversation. “The Hobby is an icebreaker, a hundred percent,” Shore said. With plenty of Hobby stories to tell, he often finds himself manning the card area, hanging out, talking to customers and collectors.
“I just love doing it.”

It’s what makes this venture so intriguing — a sort of third space for The Hobby. You might have your computer or phone, hopping on breaks, looking at cards on sites or socials. You might have your LCS and card shows. Now, you have a place to relax and socialize within The Hobby, to build both a community and a sense of excitement around the cards.
Live breaks at Doubles are designed to build that energy, to put the break (and the cards) right in the customers’ hands. Shore described: “It’s a very social environment, in our breaks we’ll pass packs around, people get to take part in ripping the packs, calling out the hits.” It’s all meant to help build that community, for both the brewery and The Hobby. Next up at Doubles is the Topps Series 1 Baseball Bingo Break on Friday, February 13.
