Collecting the Cheesiest Chase Cards
According to the 2026 Wisconsin Cheese Trends Report — a lookahead syllabus from the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin that highlights “five cheese trends poised to shape 2026” — one of the biggest factors driving cheese choices this year will be texture. So if you are among the millions (we are guessing at this number) celebrating National Cheese Lovers Day on January 20th, may all your cheese be stretchy, “fudgy,” and creamy.
And may your cheese trading card corners always be… sharp!
Today, we’re looking at the greatest cheese-themed cards in the Topps catalog. And yes, there will be more cheese puns. Turn back now, or jump in!
Take a look back through the greatest Topps cheese cards in honor of National Cheese Lovers Day. See standout, silly collector favorites from sets like Topps Allen & Ginter, Opening Day Baseball, Garbage Pail Kids, and more.
Cheese Trading Cards For National Cheese Lover’s Day

2024 Topps Allen & Ginter Mini Ballpark Bites #BB-14 Cheese Curds
If you’ve never had fresh cheese curds, you’re missing out on a fun, delicious, squeaky experience. And if you’ve never had them fried? Heaven. Even the photo on this card is misleading. Fried cheese curds do not need accoutrements. Pop them hot and enjoy the delicacy.

2022 Allen & Ginter What a Steal #WAS-2 Cheese
Commemorating a 2016 Wisconsin heist where $70,000 worth of cheese (about 20,000 pounds) was stolen — and eventually recovered — this card is possibly the most aesthetically pleasing of the bunch for a cheese-lover.
The image features your typical Swiss wedge coupled with an old-school burglar in the classic horizontal stripes. This is… nacho typical card!
So yes — this is not specifically a cheese card. It’s a milk one. And we’ll get to the proper American GPK cheese-related card in a moment. But one cannot pass up the chance to feature a card that digs deep into Italian name lore to rhyme “mozzarella” with the relatively obscure (but very real) name “Ornella” (which means “flowering ash tree,” loosely).

1987 Garbage Pail Kids Series 9 #374a Swiss Kris
I can’t really add anything to this card, commentary-wise. It’s simply brilliant.

1992 Topps In Living Color #26 Welcome to Homey Cheese
The 1992 Topps In Living Color set features the “rookies” of Jennifer Lopez, Jim Carrey, Damon Wayans, and David Alen Grier. Determining which card of the several each person has in the set is the actual rookie is a column for another day.
And yes, fine, again, we are loosely drawing the boundaries of what constitutes a “cheese” card. But Chuck E. Cheese has it right in the name! And, therefore, Homey Cheese makes the… cut.

2016 Topps MLB Wacky Packages #MLBW-3 Royals Blue Cheese
No cheese can start an argument like blue cheese, and here, we pay tribute to “Royals Blue” with a relatively tame and not-as-gross-as-we’re-used-to Wacky Packages twist.

2024 Topps Wacky Packages Philly Non-Sports Show Promo Philayellphia Scream Cheese
We’re going to go a little obscure here with a Wacky Packages promo card from the Philly Non-Sports Show, featuring ghosts emerging from a box of cream cheese. The back explains the timing — the 2024 show took place the week before Halloween. Plus, Phila-YELL-phia is a 5-star pun.

2025 Topps Baseball Series 1 #81 Minnesota Twins Say Cheese!
And…

2024-25 Topps Stadium Club Chrome UCL Say Cheese #SC-VIN Vini Jr.
Saying “cheese” for photos allegedly started in the 1940s, and 80 years later, the phrase got its own trading card — twice. These cards appeared in Topps Series 1 and as a full subset in Stadium Club’s UCL Chrome set.
Feels like a good time for another groan:
Q: How can you make a mouse smile?
A: Say cheese!

2017 Topps Opening Day Baseball Incredible Eats #IE-15 Bacon Mac & Cheese
It came down to the Opening Day bacon mac and cheese vs. Allen & Ginter’s crab mac and cheese, and this card felt less elitist. Crab’s expensive! Plus, we had some A&G in here already and wanted to give a nod to the great “Opening Day” cards of seasons past. It was a very… gouda set!
Enjoy your National Cheese Lover’s Day, everyone! We hope you had a… grate time!
