How Hobby Shops Celebrated Rip Night
On February 21, 2026 Topps Rip Night saw Hobby shops and collectors around the world celebrate The Biggest Night in The Hobby. From promo packs and other giveaways, to trade nights and athlete and celebrity appearances, the excitement offered an opportunity for Hobby communities to come together, talk shop, and rip packs.
Let’s take a look at how it all went down at a few shops who put on Rip Night events.
2026 Topps Rip Night brought Hobby shops and collectors together to celebrate The Biggest Night in The Hobby. We saw pack ripping, promo packs and giveaways flowing, trade tables filling up, and communities showing up in a big way.

In Wilmington, North Carolina, Port City Sports Collectibles put on a huge event for its Hobby community. “We hosted a full Rip Night-style celebration centered around community, excitement, and shared experiences,” Jamison Long of PCSC said. “We opened the doors early and made sure all formats of Series 1 were available — Hobby, Jumbo, Retail — so collectors of all levels could participate.
“The biggest highlight was the turnout. The shop was packed from start to finish — seasoned collectors, families, and kids. At one point we had over 250 people in our shop at once.
“Memorable moments came when younger collectors got big hits in front of a crowd. The entire shop gets excited for them. That reaction — people celebrating someone else’s hit like it was their own — is exactly what Rip Night is about.”
The pulls came fast and furious. “We saw some incredible cards come out of Series 1 that night,” Long said. “Big-name autos, low-numbered parallels, and several strong rookie hits that had the room buzzing. Some of the names included Trout, Elly, Cal Raleigh, Cooper Flagg, and more.
“There were also multiple multi-card trades happening simultaneously across the shop. A few collectors were able to leave with key pieces they had been chasing for weeks. Watching deals come together organically across generations — kids trading with adults, long-time collectors helping newcomers — was just as exciting as the big pulls.”

For Port City Sports Collectibles, the best part was the atmosphere, Long explained. “The chaos. the noise. Rip Night isn’t just about cards — it’s about shared moments. It’s about celebrating The Hobby together. Seeing our community show up, support each other, and create memories inside our shop is what makes events like this so special.”

At Mojo Break Shop, a packed Topps Rip Night was highlighted by a special appearance from San Francisco legend and Hall of Famer Jerry Rice.

528 Collectibles x Major Sports Cards: Long Island, NY

A 2026 Topps Rip Night Hobby shop collab saw 528 Collectibles and Major Sports Cards put on a unique event on Long Island, moving the party out of their shops and into a local basketball facility. Major Sports Cards’ Anthony Perna told RIPPED, “We wanted to create a new atmosphere for Rip Night that differed from the traditional card shop or card show. Having it in this great space kept the sports vibe and allowed us to give our customers a different look from what they are used to with us.”
The result was an electric event with collectors of all ages, special appearances, and some fantastic giveaways. “One of the fun highlights from the event was when Michael Rubin came out,” Perna said. “We decided to open a case of 2026 Series 1 Hobby Boxes and start handing them out to all the kids. They went absolutely nuts.”
As Shea Shepard of 528 Collectibles explained, “Michael [Rubin] brought some of the Cactus Jack cards from NBA All-star weekend to give out. There was a kid in the crowd who had the Travis Scott Cactus Jack shoes on, and Michael gave him a box of the Cactus Jack cards!”

“Big pulls from Rip Night included a 2025-26 Topps Basketball Jalen Brunson on-Card Auto /25 and a Paddock Pass Max Verstappen 1st Day Issue /10,” Shephard said. Another lucky customer pulled a Cam Schlittler 1/1 Auto, adding to the big wins of the night.
The Attic: Claremont, CA

At The Attic, less than an hour from Dodger Stadium, we saw one of the biggest pulls of 2026 Topps Rip Night, this 1/1 Shohei Ohtani auto card. Steve, the collector who found the card, told ABC7, “I’m going to cherish it. It’s the biggest part of my collection now, so it’s going to be with me.
“I look at it, I’m still in shock — from Saturday evening to now. I think I’ve only gotten about eight hours of sleep since then.”
The event also featured appearances from Dodger legends Eric Gagne and Orel Hersheiser.

Honey Hole Collectibles x Ross Cards & Collectibles x SD Sports Cards: Southern California

A multi-shop collab between Honey Hole Collectibles, Ross Cards & Collectibles, and SD Sports Cards brought an amazing experience to SoCal’s Hobby community — a card shop crawl.
Along the crawl, collectors were treated to food, refreshments, giveaways, and more. Jacob Ross of Ross Cards & Collectibles explained, “The real highlight was really the amount of people that completed the crawl. Rip Night gave us a record number of engagement from our card community.”

For Jacob, the best part of Topps Rip Night was obvious: “Definitely giving the door prizes to all who came. It is a great night to give back to our community.”
GG Cards and Breaks: Syracuse, NY
GG Cards and Breaks, a Hobby shop in the home of The Orange, had a special Topps Rip Night moment, when Syracuse basketball star Kiyan Anthony, son of ‘Cuse legend Carmelo Anthony, stopped by to greet a packed house.
