Top 2023 Topps Allen & Ginter RCs #s 5-1
5: 2023 Topps Allen & Ginter #257 Kodai Senga RC
As of September 15, 2023, only two pitchers boasted an ERA under 3.00 and a strikeout rate exceeding 11 Ks per 9 innings: San Diego’s Blake Snell and Senga. Hailing from Japan, 30-year-old Senga secured an All-Star spot in his debut season and carved a significant place in the NL’s Cy Young contention. It’ll be interesting to see if he sticks around New York for the Mets’ rebuild.
4: 2023 Topps Allen & Ginter #68 Adley Rutschman RC
Every few weeks, the X app resurfaces a highlight: Rutschman, then a kicker for Oregon State, nailing Stanford’s star (and now 49ers’ running back) Christian McCaffrey on a kickoff return. Flash forward to 2023, and this former two-sport dynamo is now crushing baseballs and snagging All-Star honors with the playoff-bound Orioles. Just last season, he finished second in the AL’s Rookie of the Year voting, and now? He’s making his debut in Allen & Ginter.
3: 2023 Topps Allen & Ginter #90 Josh Jung RC
The Rangers fight for AL West supremacy, and a playoff berth has turned into a battle that would cause King Leonidas to take a step back before indulging. Jung, an All-Star in 2023 and a new face in the Allen & Ginter fam, has played a pivotal part in the battle, putting forth a banner year and topping 20 homers and 60 RBIs for the first time in his young career. His return to Texas’ lineup after a stint on the DL will be a welcomed sight in Arlington.
2: 2023 Topps Allen & Ginter #72 Gunnar Henderson RC
At 22 years and 52 days, Henderson became the youngest player in Orioles/Browns history with four extra-base hits in a game, breaking the legendary Cal Ripken Jr.’s franchise record. He’s since hit the cusp of the 30-homer threshold and is currently tied for the AL lead in triples (eight). Two reasons why Baltimore’s already clinched a playoff spot reside on this list. The B-More youth movement takes October.
1: 2023 Topps Allen & Ginter #11 Corbin Carroll RC
Carroll lights up the diamond like it’s a July 4th fireworks show! Before even hitting the All-Star break, he smashed 15 homers and swiped 25 bases, a feat no rookie’s pulled off before. Now, he’s in the same elite MLB club as Mike Trout, one of four players in MLB history with at least 20 dingers and 40 swiped bags in his rookie season. Carroll is also the first D-backs position player to earn All-Star honors in his debut year. Talk about staking his claim to the throne of this list.
